1. Breaking even by collectively charging the companies (chosen by readers to receive their contact info) only the actual cost of making and shipping a paperback book.

2. Making a profit by collectively charging these companies more than the cost of making and shipping a paperback.

 

How To Make a Profit

1. In order to allow authors (and publishers) to make a profit, paperback authors can set the price at which the website created for this type of exchange ships their books out to interested readers for free.

2. After the cost of manufacturing and shipping the author’s book is deducted from the price set by the author, any remaining money is kept by the author.

3. Any price set by the author is collectively paid for by the companies buying leads (contact info such as name and email) according to however much per lead they are paying to acquire it.

4. The higher the price the author sets for his book, the more companies an interested reader has to give his name and email address to and/or the more contact information he has to give to get the paperback book.

5. The lower the price the author sets for his book, the fewer companies an interested reader has to give his name and email address to and/or the less contact info he has to give to get the paperback.

6. So while an author may want to earn more profits by raising his price, fewer people may take up his book offer because they do not want to give out so much information and/or to so many companies.
